Thanks for chatting to us today. So, what made you want to perform at Mieliepop Festival?
The kind of vibe that Mieliepop has along with expanding our band and music to people who will be at Mieliepop, as its one of the big festivals in South Africa. Along with sharing our genre in South Africa, as it’s a genre that’s not celebrated much, many would think that reggae music is dead but we will be there to show people that it’s still in existence.
Tell us about your background and how did you get started in reggae music?
Well our journey with reggae music came a long way, growing up in reggae music families during the difficult times we took refugee and sanctuary in reggae music. From there we started singing reggae music from the great reggae legends, the likes of Twinkle Brothers, Bob Marley, LKJ…the list is endless. Until we started composing our own songs, forming Zionruts after having played in various bands.
