There must be something in the water in eMalahleni (formerly Witbank)… Following closely behind Bellville and Potchefstroom, who have produced some incredible local music talent, it seems the same is happening here and we don’t mean Prime Circle…
Breaking into the scene is Rock band, LEVEN.
No strangers to radio, LEVEN has seen success with their debut single “Take It Back” earlier in 2014 and this week follows it up with the incredibly catchy, “Starry Night”.
Produced by Dale Schnettler (from Prime Circle) and Howie Combrink from The Hit Lab, LEVEN front man, Stan Kruger, comments on what it was like working with these two incredible producers and what the inspiration behind writing “Starry Night” was:
“Working with Dale and Howie is amazing, they’ve shown us what it is to have creative producers that have active input and also being brutally honest, and you need that to make a good record. Working with them feels so natural, no animosity and no BS, just creativity and ideas. I wrote this song about my relationship with my partner and I always tell her ‘If you could see what I see, you’d want to be me.’ and then I just kept on writing with her in mind and that central theme. I think too many woman don’t realise their own worth to someone else and this track tries to show there’s always different perceptions when it come to a relationship.”
Have a listen to “Starry Night”
Starting in 2012, two years down the line the band is taking on 2014 with the passion and perseverance to be recognised as one of SA’s top new bands. LEVEN are already set to perform at Mieliepop Festival in Mpumalanga early October, as well as during the next Aardklop festival in Potchefstroom, with loads more major live dates to follow.
