I am so proud of ‘Lift Off’ – the message and emotion in the song is one of hope and a belief that even when things seem impossibly hard, you can move forward and find happiness. All my songs come from a place of emotional honesty and ‘Lift Off’ is one of my most vulnerable. I hope it gives people a lot of joy when they hear it
About Lift Off
‘Lift Off’ is a beautiful solo return from Carver after her single ‘Sunrise’ with US DJ Joe Bermudez reached #1 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs Chart less than 2 months ago. The Music Video for ‘Lift Off’ is released today as well.

Hanging In The Void
Carver has had multiple radio hits with singles such as ‘Empty Fantasy’, ‘It Don’t Matter’ and ‘Warrior feat. Zulu Boy’ and her forthcoming album ‘Hanging In The Void’ is set to deliver many more radio and fan favourite singles, starting with the first release ‘Lift Off’. The album was recorded with one of SA’s finest producers Mark Beling, a renowned musician himself and former front man of Mean Mr Mustard, and is arguably Carver’s best work to date.
“Mark and I worked on ‘Hanging in the void’ for over a year and a half and it is how I always imagined creating music would be. We laughed, pulled our hair out and shared ideas, no ego, only the unwavering love of music with integrity. This album captures my heart,” comments Carver.
‘Hanging In The Void’ is due for release digitally on iTunes and Apple Music on Friday 28 October and the physical album will be available in music stores nationwide from Monday 7 November.
‘Hanging In The Void’ track listing is as follows

The music video for ‘Lift Off’ was filmed on Tuesday 27 September with director Matthew Marinus (and co-directed by Louise Carver) and kicked off early in the morning at the historic Anstey’s Building, an art deco building in the city of Johannesburg. Carver was dressed in a Vesselina Pentcheva designer vintage dress and filming took place on the roof of the building with Carver looking down at the busy streets surrounding the building, capturing the energy of Joburg’s city life.
The shoot then travelled towards a beautiful farm in Heilbron in the Free State, filming Carver walking barefoot as she journeyed from the frenetic CBD of Joburg, crossing over the Vaal and into the farm lands. Once at the historic farm house, filming continued with Carver playing on a YAMAHA piano in an open field, which represents freedom and peace.
The music video encompasses another narrative, which added to the theme of overcoming hardship and movement towards joy – this is represented by the incredibly talented Pantsula dance group Tembisa Revolution who also feature in the music video.
With multiple radio hit singles, SAMA nominations and sold out shows, Louise Carver is South Africa’s most loved female singer/songwriter and delivers an album that will be a favourite among music fans for years to come.
