Mix 93.8 FM, Johannesburg’s favourite community radio station who aims to entertain, inspire and inform, has recently excelled in various endeavours undertaken by the station.
On 26 April 2018 in support and celebration of Freedom Day, the station held an outside broadcast at the Sandton SPCA to raise money for the animals. From 6AM to 6PM the presenters broadcasted from inside the kennels to experience a day in the life of an SPCA animal. Pledges from the fantastic Mix 93.8 FM listeners entitled the presenters to experience daily freedoms such as using the bathrooms or having something to eat. Commemorating, celebrating and remembering our fundamental right to freedom, the station managed to raise an astonishing amount of just under R135 000 for the SPCA in 12 hours.
“To all the Mix 93.8 FM listeners, clients, presenters, staff and to anyone who partook on the day: There are no words to describe the sense of pride, love and loyalty I experienced during the pledge day. A truly humbling experience. For just one day it wasn’t about daily issues that pop up; it was all about the Sandton SPCA, the people who work there and of course the most adorable, deserving animals. Everyone let their guards down and showed such love and warmth. The day reminded me that no matter how much hard work radio can be, it’s more than worth all of it and it reminded me that nothing is impossible.” – Abigail Milosevich, Mix 93.8 FM Station Manager.
