The Slashdogs – Marikana

“The SlashDogs are 5 piece Rock & Roll band from Johannesburg. They do things differently from other South African bands… they don’t give a F**K about conforming to the current `standard` rock feel that their competition is putting out. The band drew inspiration from classic rock ‘n roll and cite influences such as Motorhead and Zeke, poised with old school swagger from greats such as Chuck Berry and Johnny Cash. Their music is down and dirty, whiskey soaked, sweaty and pure driven Rock N’ Roll.”

Forth Coming Album: “Progress Through Plunder” due out February 2014. The first single “Marikana” from The SlashDogs forth coming album entitled “Progress Through Plunder” was inspired by the brutal and tragic events that occurred at the Marikana mine in South Africa on the 16th August 2012 where police killed 42 striking workers.
Marikana can be downloaded from the bands website or via iTunes. All proceeds from this song will be donated to some of the families of the victims of the Marikana massacre. Follow The SlashDogs on Facebook and Twitter, or visit their website.
