Van Wyk Brand explains the inspiration behind Winter/Spring

“Winter/Spring refers to coming in and out of seasons in your life. The good and the bad. Working through the bad times and flourishing in the good. Breaking down and building yourself back up only to be broken down again. The process of seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and moving forward. Starting to find yourself again. Seeing the sun after being stuck in the cold. Digging deeper and aiming higher every day. After 2 years of writing in and out of seasons. This album, Winter/Spring, plucks almost every emotion anyone has experienced at some point in their life. Soaring melodies and captivating harmonies with a folk back-bone to support an indie/alternative sound. Something for everyone. A story of love lost and gained.”

When not busy with his solo career, Brand is the frontman of Rock Band IV4 who recently won the Converse Get Out Of The Garage 2015 competition, the same competition which launched Matthew Mole into the spotlight. Brand will soon be heading with his band to New York as part of the prize!

Join Van Wyk Brand for an incredible night of music with the launch of ‘Winter/Summer’ on Saturday 7 November at Rafters.
